“Art is either plagiarism or revolution”
– Paul Gauguin

Mark Quasim Bennett is a multi-talented community activist, spoken word artist, graphic artist, teacher, and marketing director from Hollis, NY. He has always had a passion for the people who create. His love for art started when he started writing poetry at Hampton University. He developed his art and was featured at multiple events. He also hosted or spearheaded different open mics throughout NY. He would always develop relationships with the artist on his travels and realized there was a constant issue among artist. Lack of good business and lack of effective marketing.

Post-college, Mark was employed by Fedex Office (then Fedex Kinkos), where a friend took him under his wing and taught him the basics of Graphic Design. He learned quickly and developed his own technique for creating flyers. After leaving Fedex Office, he found a job at the Economic Opportunity Commission of Nassau County, Inc.(EOC) as a Job Readiness Instructor. It was a position that combined his passion for teaching, Job Readiness, and graphic design. In this position he taught men and women numerous Job Readiness Techniques such as Microsoft Office, Resume Creation, Interview Questions, and other life skills. While at the EOC, a supervisor noticed his talent for creating flyers for his class, and asked him to design some of the agency’s event and program flyers. Once the designs that were created made it their way to executive management, the CEO appointed appointed Mark to chair of a Public Relations Committee that would handle creating newsletters, managing social media, and designing flyers for the agency. After successfully chairing the committee for a year and a half, he was promoted to Director of the agency’s newly formed Marketing Department and became a part of the EOC’s Executive Management Team. After working as a Job Readiness Instructor for 6 years, he was promoted as the Program Director for the Displaced Homemakers Program, a statewide program which focuses on helping men and women who are displaced from their employment and need assistance with finding another position.

In August 2017, Mark Bennett and his wife Kristin Bennett decided to launch their business, the Bonafide Lyrics & Marketing, LLC (The BLM). The BLM is a Marketing Agency focused on marketing creatives, and other small business owners that are following a cause and a passion. It started as a secondary job for them both, but it grew into a profitable business with each passing year. In 2020, Mark decided to take the leap into working on the business full time.

Mark Bennett is always ready to help people who want to create and follow a passion. He hopes he can inspire his 3 year old daughter to follow her passions the same way he does.
